Get your shake on!
I could ask if you are stressed, tense or have ever experienced those things before.
Silly question!
We are alive therefore stress happens.
Some of us have also gone through traumas.
What’s the difference?
Trauma is something that overwhelms you as a living organism. Your brain handles it differently than other events.
We all have different thresholds as to exactly what is overwhelming. However, there are some events across the board that are always considered traumatic… war, abuse, weather disasters, you get the idea.
How are we to handle these events? The day to day stresses along with the traumatic ones?
The human organism is designed to experience trauma & survive it.
Have you ever seen an animal in the wild shake after experiencing a trauma? The gazelle whose head has been in the lion’s mouth, escapes & within minutes is back in the herd acting like nothing happened. Yes there is a video of that.

The gazelle begins shaking after the incident.
What's up with that?
Have you ever noticed yourself shaking after something scary happens or when you’re nervous? Just like the gazelle, this is your body’s way of resetting the balance in your nervous system. It discharges the extra energy. Your brain sent a message to your body that there was danger… get ready to fight, flee or freeze! Just like the gazelle.
This message of danger automatically & beyond our control causes our body to contract. The psoas (so as) muscle, a long muscle in your groin that holds your legs to your torso, pulls your body into a sort of fetal position, protecting your underbelly.
In our society we have been taught to look at this shaking as something weak or bad.
Au contraire, this is a good thing!
Holding tension in your body for prolonged periods begins causing all kinds of problems!
TRE, Trauma tension release exercises are a series of 7 gentle exercises that allow you to elicit your body’s own tremoring mechanism. This begins releasing those tension patterns.
Benefits include, feeling more relaxed, better sleep, more calm & peaceful feelings.
Some people have experienced the added benefit of relief of other long term physical ailments by using TRE on a regular basis.
TRE is used around the world in over 32 countries. It was developed by Dr. David Bercelli to help people overcome the effects of PTSD among other things.
