The number one question I’m asked about Hypnosis is, How can it help me______?
Yes, fill in the blank. How can it help me, feel less anxious, lose weight, be less afraid, stop smoking etc.…, etc.…?
Most people are interested in knowing, can it help & how does it help?
My answer is a 2-part answer.
1. Do you want to change? And by you I do mean you. Often, others want us to change or we feel like we NEED to change. But, do you want it?
2. Hypnosis can help. It’s not magic, but you might just feel that something magical occurred!
Experiencing hypnosis is an inside job!
This means the hypnotist isn’t doing anything to you, rather you are doing it yourself by imagining new ways of being.
With the help of a trained hypnotist you are guided into change.
After all your unconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between real or imagined… think about that!
Your unconscious mind is that part of you that takes a snapshot of every experience you’ve ever had.
It is saved as is. Then because no one’s brain wants to work any harder than necessary, it creates programs.
For example, say as a little kid you experience something that scares you or makes you feel bad about yourself, your unconscious is now on the lookout for any similar experiences.
It groups these experiences together.
After all, its job is to keep you alive!
If there are scary things out in the world & you stay on high alert AKA anxious feeling, you are more likely to be warned of danger before it happens. And as we all know, stress is bad for the body!
These programs that run become patterns & habits.
Our unconscious functions at the level of a 7-9-year-old.
I don’t know about you but having a 7-year-old decide what kind of resources work best for me to function well in the world is a bit worrisome!
Once we access that unconscious part of us, using trance or many other modalities a well-trained hypnotist might use, change can happen easily, more easily than you might have imagined.
You may consciously decide to make a change, such as I’m going to begin exercising. since, your conscious mind protects the program, I am a person who does not exercise, the new idea of exercising meets with resistance.
Accessing your unconscious can help change that program easier & faster.
Even though hypnosis has been portrayed by the media as a mystical experience it is an everyday occurrence.
By using the power of our unconscious mind, you can begin to make any changes you wish to make much more easily.
So, my answer to questions about whether hypnosis can help change behaviors, is yes! If it is a change that you want to make.
